Why Jurgen Klopp gave Luis Diaz a 'bit of a rollicking' in Liverpool win

Jurgen Klopp has been thrilled with the January acquisition of Luis Diaz, but that doesn't mean he won't offer direct feedback when required, as noted by Jermaine Jenas.

Diaz has been an instant hit since moving to the Premier League, serving up exciting performances and firing two goals in his first five Premier League appearances.

The Colombian was back on the mark on Saturday, bravely heading home against Brighton before being completely wiped out by Albion 'keeper Robert Sanchez.

But as picked up on by television pundit Jenas, prior to his goal, Diaz got a ticking off from manager Klopp for not tracking back after losing the ball and complaining to the referee.

Speaking last night on Match Of The Day, Jenas said: “He is a special talent. He seems to be growing game on game. He got a little bit of rollicking of his manager early on in the game.

“Have a look here. He loses the ball and decides to moan, and Jurgen Klopp says, ‘Hang on a minute. We don’t do that here remember. Get yourself back and get the ball for us’.”

The candid touchline feedback clearly did not affect Diaz' morale as not only did he go on to score, but also put in another industrious and exciting performance that once-again demonstrated his all-round ability.

One particular surge into the heart of Brighton territory almost resulted in another goal for Liverpool after Diaz ended a blistering dribble with a perfect square ball for Mohamed Salah, but on this occasion the Premier League's top marksmen could only pull his shot wide.

Nevertheless, The Reds recorded another away win and put the pressure back on Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

Diaz will play pivotal role in coming weeks as Klopp looks to maximise the various attacking options at his disposal.

But with Salah coming off injured against Brighton in the second half yesterday, it remains to be seen whether the Egyptian will return in time for Liverpool's trip to Arsenal on Wednesday evening and what that will mean for Diaz in terms of team and positional selection.
