Why Jota, Schlupp and Hatate dropped out for Celtic vs Hibs

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has explained why Jota, Reo Hatate and Jeffrey Schlupp dropped out of his side's lineup against Hibernian this afternoon.

The Parkhead boss takes his side to Easter Road in the Scottish Premiership, aiming to bounce back from a narrow Champions League exit midweek.

Rodgers' men drew 1-1 with Bayern Munich on the night but eventually went out of Europe 3-2 on aggregate.

His players gave a heroic effort on Tuesday, and from said match-up, Rodgers has made three alterations.

Jota, Schlupp and Hatate dropped out for Adam Idah, Greg Taylor and Luke McCowan.

Pre-match in Leith, Rodgers explained his team selection and why the aforementioned trio dropped out: "We just made one change to each line, that's been our rhythm over the past few months," he said (Premier Sports).

"We've got a game on Tuesday night as well, but the big focus is on today and making sure we keep that aggression in our game and look to hurt them (Hibs) with our quality."

Celtic can move 16 points clear of city rivals Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a victory before they kick off against St. Mirren at Ibrox later this afternoon.

Rodgers' men comfortably won 2-0 on their last visit to Easter Road, with Callum McGregor and Nicolas Kuhn both getting on the scoresheet.
