Quiz show fans look set to be disappointed as Tipping Point will not air on Thursday, July 7. The Ben Shephard-fronted show, which recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary, has been replaced in its usual 4pm ITV slot.
Tipping Point is highly regarded among viewers and sees four contestants (three contestants from Series 12) answer questions on the subject of general knowledge to win counters which they use on a large coin pusher arcade-style machine. Only the winner at the end has a chance to take home any money; the others leave with nothing except any non-cash prizes they may have won during the game.
The popular show usually attracts strong ratings and some people will, no doubt, be concerned by its Thursday disappearance. In recent weeks, Tipping Point has aired repeats from the show's past. During an episode broadcast on Wednesday, July 6, a contestant forgot host Ben's name. You can read about that here. But why is Tipping Point not on this Thursday, July 7?

Why isn't Tipping Point on today?
Tipping Point fans needn't worry as the only reason that it is not on, is because of the FIA Extreme E Off-Road Racing. In March, 2021, ITV agreed to broadcast live racing action, highlights shows and the championship’s 20-part magazine programme – Electric Odyssey - across its network.
On Thursday, July 7, Extreme E will be hosting its Island-X Prix, which will be broadcast in Tipping Point's 4pm slot. One driver whom might be recognisable is Formula 1 legend, Jenson Button. Button's team, JBXE has signed defending Extreme E champion Molly Taylor for the opening round and is a solid contender this year. In the live race, the all-electric SUV cars head to Sardinia for the first of a double-header of races on the Italian island. As well as featuring some of the most dramatic action on the motorsport calendar, the Island X Prix will highlight rising temperatures, heatwaves and wildfires that are affecting many parts of the world.
In March, 2021, Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, said of the decision to broadcast races: “Bringing ITV viewers the launch of an innovative motorsport that promises first class live action underpinned by an insight into the possibilities of sustainable technology is an exciting prospect.”
Tipping Point will return on Friday, July 8, at 4pm on ITV
