Why isn't Starstruck on ITV tonight and when is it back as final postponed?

Those hoping to tune into Starstruck tonight are set to be disappointed. Along with Saturday Night Takeaway the talent show has been cancelled this weekend to make way for sport.

The brand new entertainment show, which sees members of the public compete in teams as they transform into the world's biggest music icons, won't air on Saturday, March 19 due to the Six Nations Live coverage.

The rugby will run on ITV on Saturday, March 19 from 7.15pm to 10.30pm as England takes on France. It will follow on from Ireland v Scotland which kicks off at 4.45pm, with live coverage from 4pm.

It means viewers will have to wait another week to find out who else will go through to the final of Starstruck and be in with a chance of claiming the £50,000 prize pot.

Starstruck started on Saturday, February 12 with judges Adam Lambert, Sheridan Smith, Jason Manford and Beverley Knight and it's hosted by Olly Murs. In each show, four teams of three members take to the stage to perform a hit song from their music idol, with each person in the team singing a section of the song.

There are similarities to the classic talent show Stars in Their Eyes - which first aired in 1990 before the final episode aired in 2006 and which featured many celebrities, which you can read about here - but with Starstruck, contestants compete in groups, with all three of them dressed in different looks from their chosen music artist. They will have to impress the Starstruck judges to then be picked as the strongest team. The strongest team will then compete against each other and the audience will get the final vote on who their favourite solo-singer is.

The Starstruck final has been postponed (ITV)

Starstruck isn't the only show to be cancelled this weekend as Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway has also been bumped from the schedule. Ant and Dec recently shared an updated about the change on Instagram.

Posting on social media, the presenting duo wrote: "Remember there’s no show this weekend as we pass Saturday night over to the rugby. But they're only borrowing it! We'll be keeping your Takeaway warm until it all kicks off again in studio next Saturday 26th March!"

The Dancing On Ice final has also been postponed and will no longer air on Sunday, March 20 as planned. Instead the last episode will take place on March, 27 to make way for the FA Cup quarter-final.

Starstruck will return to ITV on Saturday, March 26 with the final airing on Saturday, April 2. To get the latest showbiz news from WalesOnline sent straight to your inbox sign up for our What's On newsletter here.
