Why isn’t Chelsea vs Brighton Carabao Cup game live on TV in UK today?

Chelsea and Brighton do battle in a Carabao Cup clash with plenty of extra spice tonight.

Not for the first time, the Blues peered towards the South Coast in search of improvements this summer and landed goalkeeper Robert Sanchez plus £115million midfielder Moises Caicedo after a lengthy transfer saga.

However, such investments have not turned around the fortunes of Mauricio Pochettino’s team. Without a goal in their last three games, Chelsea have only beaten lowly Luton and League Two AFC Wimbledon this season.

Much improvement is needed on and off the pitch at Stamford Bridge, where Brighton are the visitors tonight.

The Seagulls are seen by many as a model club, cashing in on talented youngsters at their peak before recruiting fresh blood to superbly serve their manager’s tactical needs.

Brighton fans would love nothing more than to get one over a team that has plucked more than their fair share of signings from the Seagulls, while paying a pretty penny for the privilege.

However, viewers in the UK will not be able to tune into the Carabao Cup clash live on TV.

The third-round game was not chosen by Sky Sports for their live coverage with only two games per round up for grabs as part of their agreement with the EFL, which includes a total of 15 live games.

Instead, Manchester United’s game with Crystal Palace was chosen last night and Manchester City vs Newcastle is tonight’s TV match.

Highlights will be available on the Sky Sports app and YouTube shortly after full time, plus on ITV1’s replay show at 12.05am in the early hours of Thursday morning.
