Why is Prince Harry not wearing his uniform at the Queen's funeral?

Despite being an honoured member of the British military, the Duke of Sussex will not be wearing his uniform as he mourns the Queen today.

Previously, Harry saw action on the front line during two tours of duty in Afghanistan. However, he will be wearing civilian clothes during today's funeral because he is no longer classified as a working royal.

According to protocol, only active and working royals may be permitted to wear their military uniform at the Queen's funeral. Following his separation from the royal family, Harry was also stripped of his honorary military roles including Captain General of the Royal Marines.

In January, he was stripped of all his honorary military roles, including the Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, ahead of his legal settlement. Andrew was sued by Virginia Giuffre who alleged that he sexually assaulted her when she was 17 and trafficked by Epstein - claims that Andrew denies.
