Rain has been forecast to end a sunny spell in London and it could be a factor in the next few weeks, the Met Office has warned.
Londoners endured bright spells amid a cool and windy weekend after rain came down in the UK from the north.
There are no weather warnings in place but after a wet start on Monday, meteorologists are predicting a cloudy day with highs of 16C in the afternoon.
June days typically peak at 19C, according to Wilderness England.
But from Tuesday, it is set to get wetter, with the BBC predicting showers on most days from June 11 all the way through to June 23.
Tuesday and Wednesday of this week will have bright starts and showers in the afternoon while this weekend, June 15 and 16, will likely have intermittent rainfall.
"During the daytime on each day, showers could become heavy and slow-moving, and there is a chance these might turn thundery at times,” the Met Office has said.
“However, not everywhere will catch a shower, and many places may hold on to warm, sunny days with light winds.
"Next week, confidence for any dominant weather regime is considered very low. There are tentative signs of building high pressure from the west at times, but showers or longer spells of rain are also likely to affect the country, with the eastern half of England and Scotland on balance most likely to experience wetter, or at last more showery weather."
So, it is unlikely to be a washout but it is hardly the June weather you might have been hoping for if you have plans for a barbecue or an outdoor screening of the Euros.
The wetter than usual can be explained.
And in case you were wondering, Wimbledon begins on July 1.
Why is it going to be so wet in London?
The Met Office has told the Standard that the average temperatures might be in the mid-teens and below the average of 19C.
Spokesperson Stephen Dixon said: “We have a bit of a northerly air flow, pulling cooler air over the UK from the north - over parts of Scotland, where we are even seeing snow. It might feel pleasant or sometimes chilly as temperatures are milder than usual.
“This week, it will be a mix of a few showers and in parts of London you will likely see this in the next few days. Weather will become more unsettled from Thursday and this will continue into the weekend.
“Temperatures might go up a touch midweek.”
