Why is Emmerdale not on tonight? ITV soap cancelled in schedule change

Emmerdale fans will not get to watch the latest episode of the popular soap tonight after ITV removed it from its schedule.

The show, which usually airs weekdays from 7.30pm to 8pm with an hour-long special on Thursdays, won't be broadcast tonight due to the FA Cup. Emmerdale isn't the only soap affected by the schedule changes.

EastEnders and Coronation Street were also pulled off air to allow for live coverage of the matches. Emmerdale will be back on our screens from tomorrow, March 2.

During the latest episode on Tuesday, Paddy Kirk surprised villagers with his unannounced return. Paddy, who had been struggling with his mental health, had left Emmerdale to get some space from those around him.

Finding out about his ex wife's affair with Al Chapman left him absolutely devastated and viewers have found it difficult to watch him deteriorate from episode to episode. Many are now convinced Paddy came back for only one reason and worry there won't be a happy ending in store for him.

His storyline is part of a bigger bid to raise awareness around men's mental health. On March 10, Emmerdale will be airing a special episode featuring an ensemble cast of only male actors. Marlon Dingle will set up a late night lock-in at the Emmerdale Woolpack, with one thing on the agenda: men talking to each other.

As ever, we'll continue to bring you the big Emmerdale news about what is happening in the village and away from it. You can visit our Emmerdale homepage to find the latest gossip about the soap and its stars.
