Why is Emmerdale not on tonight and when is it next on ITV?

Soap fans tuning in to watch the latest instalment of Emmerdale on Tuesday night (September 6) will be disappointed to find that there has been a change to the TV schedule this week. The ITV Yorkshire soap, which usually airs every weeknight from 7.30pm with an hour-long episode airing on Thursdays, will not be airing on Tuesday evening.

The long-running drama isn't showing up on the TV guide because the World Cup Live is being broadcast on ITV from 7pm on Tuesday, September 6. The match will see England play Luxembourg at the Bet365 Stadium in Stoke in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifier with kick-off from 7.30pm.

Whilst Emmerdale fans will miss their regular visit to the village, the good news is that it will be back on our screens as normal on Wednesday, September 7 from 7.30pm and will continue on Thursday, September 8 with the usual one-hour episode. Viewers will also be pleased to hear that an hour-long episode will air on Friday (September 9) too, which will make up for the missed 30 minute episode on Tuesday.

The soap's storylines are currently gearing up towards the month-long 50th anniversary celebrations in October. So far it has been confirmed that the village will be hit by a storm and that three characters; Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh), and Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen) will be making a comeback.

You can catch up on Emmerdale episodes over on the ITV Hub.
