Throughout his career, Billy Horschel has plied his trade on both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, with the American claiming victories at some iconic venues like Muirfield Village and Wentworth.
Despite living thousands of miles away from West Ham, the 37-year-old is a big supporter of the club and, you may wonder, why is that? Well, speaking to Sky Sports, the eight-time PGA Tour winner stated it's to do with the football hooligan film Green Street.
In an interview back at The 149th Open Championship in 2021, Horschel explained that: "During my sophomore year of college I moved into a new apartment and the cable wasn't going to be hooked up for a couple of days so we went to Best Buy and bought a couple of DVDs, one of those DVDs was Green Street.
"I loved the movie, I loved Charlie Hunnam as an actor and obviously the film is about the firms at Millwall and West Ham, from there I started following them. Since about 10-12 year ago I've been paying really close attention to them since NBC Sports starting showing Premier League games.
"I'm always watching their matches and any Premier Leagues actually, but I follow them [West Ham] very closely and I'm aware of how they're doing, the transfer window and just a die hard supporter like I am for my Florida Gators."
At multiple tournaments, Horschel has been seen donning the West Ham logo on his golf bag, with the badge coming out at the likes of the US Open, BMW PGA Championship and, most recently, The 152nd Open Championship at Troon.
Being a professional golfer, Horschel has spent plenty of hours on the course with various players, with the American teeing it up with club legend, Mark Noble, at the BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am, as well as the likes of Declan Rice, who used to captain the side before joining Arsenal.
Speaking to media at Royal Troon in 2024, Horschel stated: "Whenever I try to come over here I try to get the West Ham bag out. Up the Hammers and come on you Irons. Other supporters of other clubs have been gracious enough to be nice to me compared to how they may be to a fellow English person supporting West Ham."
