Why Hilary Devey quit Dragons' Den as she dies aged 65 in Morocco following illness

Despite only joining Dragons Den for two series, Hilary Devey became a firm fan favourite on the show.

The upfront Bolton-born businesswoman with a soft heart instantly won over the public on the hit BBC show.

Throughout her time during filming, she gave offers worth £412,000 to businessmen and women on the show to invest in all sorts of business ventures - from hair extensions to dipping sauces.

So her sudden disappearance after series 10 in 2012 left fans gutted and wondering where she had gone.

The businesswoman quit that year after being offered a lucrative deal by Channel 4 to front her own show in 2012 called The Intern.

In the business documentary series, she gave three young interns a week's trial in the job of their dreams. It had been comprised of six episodes and the first three ran at the primetime slot of 9pm on a Thursday, however due to a drop in ratings the final three aired on Wednesday nights at 11pm.

In 2015, Hilary went on to host another show for the channel called Running The Shop.

That same year in June, she also made her debut as a Loose Women guest panellist, going on to become an occasional panellist over the next few months until his departure in November 2015.

This afternoon, Hilary's agent sadly revealed that the 65-year-old businesswoman had died in her holiday home Morocco on Saturday.

Her agent told The Sun that Hilary had been "ill for some time".

Hilary was awarded with a number of accolades over the years, including a CBE in 2013 for services to the transport industry and charity.

She was also gifted an Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration by the University of Bolton for services to business in 2012 and an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Business Administration from the University of Wolverhampton in 2014.
