Why Greg Taylor may be finding Kieran Tierney's Celtic return 'difficult'

Alistair Johnston reckons Greg Taylor is finding it difficult knowing Kieran Tierney is set to return to Celtic this summer.

The Arsenal defender has agreed on a pre-contract to move back to Glasgow's east end at the end of the season when his current deal in North London expires.

Subsequently, Taylor is out of contract at Celtic at the end of the campaign and is yet to commit his long-term future to the Scottish Premiership champions.

Uncertainty reigns over where he will end up next season, although Tierney's future is settled.

Current Parkhead right-back Johnston, though, reckons Taylor might be finding the left-back's impending return hard: "I won’t speak for him but it must be difficult knowing KT’s coming in the summer," said the Canadian (RecordSport).

“Greg’s someone who often gets overlooked but who helps us do so much with his ability to come inside and impact the play. If this is his last year he’ll be seriously missed on and off the pitch.

“But you can understand that he wants to play every week and with Kieran coming back that’s maybe not going to happen. Whatever happens, though, he’ll always give his best for the club and we should back him for that.”

Taylor has been a regular for Celtic this season and scored in their Premier Sports Cup final victory over city rivals Rangers in December.

He has made 34 appearances for the Parkhead side and started in eight of their nine Champions League games in 2024/25.

It remains to be seen whether he will get the nod against Bayern in Munich after Jeffrey Schlupp replaced him in the team against Dundee United on Saturday.
