Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane is an injury doubt ahead of the Three Lions' second World Cup Group B match against the USA on Friday, November 25.
Kane failed to score against Iran but grabbed himself two assists as England picked up a convincing 6-2 win against Iran to move top of Group B. The Three Lions had to be patient but soon found an opener through Jude Bellingham who announced himself on the world stage with a fine header.
Arsenal's Bukayo Saka and Chelsea's Raheem Sterling threatened throughout the game with the former scoring twice either side of Sterling's finish to make it 4-0 in the 62nd minute. Gareth Southgate utilised the wealth of attacking talent at his disposal to freshen things up with 20 minutes to go as substitutes Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish added a fifth and sixth goal to complete the rout.

Kane was seen limping through the mixed zone after the game with strapping around his right ankle after a challenge from Morteza Pouraliganji, before he was substituted for Callum Wilson in the 75th minute by Gareth Southgate. The England captain has had issues with ankle injuries in the past, after being absent on five separate occasions having missed 20 games for Spurs due to problems with his ankles.
Kane picked up his first ankle injury back in the 2016/17 season which saw him miss a total of 11 games, before suffering another ankle injury later that season which saw him be absent for a further three games. A year later, almost to the exact date, Kane suffered his third ankle injury which saw him miss the remainder of March for Spurs before returning in April 2018.
The 29-year-old then tore his ankle ligaments in January 2019 as he missed another eight games before returning a month and a half later. The Three Lions star had seemingly put his ankle woes behind him before suffering a reoccurrence of his past injuries on two occasions in the space of a couple of months in the 2020/21 season.
Kane has missed a total of 28 games through injuries to his ankles in his career, missing an average of 4.6 games in his recovery period. This would potentially see Kane miss the remainder of the World Cup tournament if it is a serious ankle injury, but early signs suggest he is only a doubt for the game against the USA.
