Why Donny van de Beek could not make Everton debut in FA Cup win over Brentford

Manchester United loanee Donny van de Beek was introduced to Everton fans on Saturday but did not feature in their 4-1 win over Brentford in the FA Cup fourth round.

The Dutchman completed his move to Goodison Park on deadline day, putting pen to paper on a loan deal until the end of the season.

But he was forced to watch on from the stands in Frank Lampard's first match in charge as he is cup-tied in the FA Cup following his 19-minute cameo in the third-round win over Aston Villa.

The midfielder was paraded inside Everton's ground alongside fellow deadline day signing Dele Alli - who is also cup-tied following his involvement in Tottenham's win over Morecambe in the third round.

Posting the photos of his introduction on social media, Van de Beek added: "A wonderful first experience of Goodison Park and a great win from the team. See you next week!"

So, Van de Beek will be hoping to make his Goodison bow in a blue shirt when Leeds United visit next week in the Premier League but, before then, will be in line for the away trip to Newcastle on Tuesday.
