People up and down the country will be lining up at polling booths today ready to cast their votes on ballot papers.
As we vote in all elections, when you arrive at the polling station, you will take a ballot paper to a voting booth, where you can put a cross in a box in secret.
But you may have found yourself wondering why pencils are supplied rather than pens - and if you can even use pens at all.
If so, we have the answer.
Over the years, voters have voiced concerns about ballot papers being tampered with if they're marked in pencil and can easily be erased.
However, according to the Electoral Commission, which shared a guide about voting, there are a number of practical reasons why pencils are provided at polling stations.

They said: "Pencils are generally used to mark ballot papers for practical reasons: ink may dry or spill, or could smudge and transfer when the ballot paper is folded, which could lead to your ballot paper being rejected.
"But this is not mandatory - you can use your own pen if you prefer."
So, there we are, there's absolutely no sinister reason as to why you're offered pencils instead of pens.
Twitter users were keen to share their thoughts on the matter, and while many urged voters not to use a pencil as it can be rubbed out, others thought this was "bizarrely stupid."
One person said: "Guys. Please use pencil when voting, a pen can smudge. Once in the box, your ballot is safe until the count, and as anyone who's ever been to a count can tell you, no one is getting a chance to alter your vote."
Another wrote: "A pencil can be rubbed out. Bad idea."
A third commented: "The suggestion that anyone is going to change your vote using a rubber is really just bizarrely stupid. Like....'they' (whoever the hell 'they' are supposed to be) are hiding in the back of the van that carries the voting slips & are diligently rubbing out & remarking them."
Someone else put: "When voting today take a pen, pencil can be erased!"
