Why Dillian Whyte missed open workouts for Tyson Fury fight after 'late flight'

The open workout for Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte took place at Wembley Box Park on Tuesday, with the majority of the undercard fighters taking part along with Tyson and Tommy Fury. However, one person not in attendance at the event was contender for the main event, Dillian Whyte.

The Londoner was set to attend after missing last month's press conference due to staying at his training camp in Portugal. However, he missed yet another promotional event following a 'late flight' depriving fans of a chance to see a tense encounter between the two heavyweight contenders.

Whyte, 34, has been in dispute over the fight's promotion but has only recently opted to comply with clause 11 of his fight contract which requires him to promote the fight on social media. However, he was once again absent for a big event with it yet to be seen whether he will attend tomorrow's main press conference.

As per the Daily Express, sources close to Whyte have cited a 'late flight as the reason for his non-attendance but it is now understood that he is on UK soil for the fight, but his participation in any further promotional activities is yet to be seen.

Whyte has complained about how 'one-sided' the promotion has been, explaining in a BT Sport interview: "This is a business," Whyte said. "It's not the Tyson Fury show. Everybody saying Tyson Fury this, Tyson Fury that. This fight sold out because of me and Tyson Fury, Tyson Fury fought Wilder, he's a big superstar. It's not just the Tyson Fury show, it's the Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte show so some things need to be done correctly."
