Stephanie Davis shocked fans when she announced she was quitting Hollyoaks in 2015.
The Celebrity Big Brother star, 30, will be joining the cast of Coronation Street later this year, gushing she was 'thrilled to be part of Britain's biggest soap'.
However, eight years ago, it was announced Stephanie's Hollyoaks contract had been terminated with immediate effect - despite the Scouser saying otherwise.
Her agent later confirmed the actress, who played Sinead O'Connor in the soap, was fired because she arrived on-set "unfit for work".
At the time, her rep explained: "Stephanie's contract was terminated following warnings for lateness, attendance and after a final incident in which she turned up to set unfit to work because of alcohol consumption."
However, Stephanie made an announcement about her departure from Hollyoaks via Instagram, sharing a statement along with a caption which read: "goals: be happy".
She wrote: ‘"Sometimes we make decisions based not on what we want but what we know is right!
"I have loved bringing Sinead into your homes for the past ten years but it’s with a heavy heart I have decided to leave Hollyoaks and now looking forward to working on new and exciting projects. Excited!"
When she was on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016, Stephanie again insisted her departure was her decision.
She said: "I walked out. It was my choice to leave," shortly before entering the star-studded house.
She also told Newsbeat: "I walked out and they tried to get me back several times, and I said no," adding she was the "most professional person you could ever meet".
Stephanie continued: "I left because I had enough and I was just ready to move on, I'd been there since I was 16 and that was kind of it. I'm sad at the way it ended."
In 2018, the actress returned to Hollyoaks, saying she was delighted to have reprised her role as Sinead.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, she said: "She's brilliant, I love playing her, there's so many dynamics to her."
The Over the Rainbow star also insisted everyone was delighted to see her back on set - despite her reportedly being sacked three years earlier for turning up late after heavy nights of drinking and partying.
Asked whether the cast was pleased to see her, she said: "They were, it was weird because it's like I never left, it's like I've always been there it's like I stepped out and went back in and everyone's treating me like I've never been away because I grew up there."
