Bookmakers have suspended bets on Harry Kane to be shown the first yellow card in England's World Cup opener versus Iran. The Three Lions captain is set to wear a 'OneLove' armband to express the nation's support for the LGBTQ+ community and other marginalised groups on the international stage.
The decision to do so is in response to strict Qatari laws. But, FIFA hasn't supported the act from participating teams and England have been told that the 'OneLove' armbands will not be permitted during the World Cup.
Talks took place with FIFA on Sunday after they had announced the new armband themes that would be allowed, including #SaveThePlanet, #ProtectChildren, #EducationForAll and #BeActive. As a result, if Kane does don the 'OneLove' armband then he could face punishment in the form of a yellow card.

Gareth Bale is also said to be planning to wear the 'OneLove' armband and he too could face retrospective action. Following aforementioned talks, Kane insisted that he is ready to risk being booked by referee Raphael Claus this afternoon (Monday) for wearing the 'OneLove' armband.
The 29-year-old said: "I feel we've made it clear as a team, as a staff and as an organisation that we want to wear the armband. I know the FA are talking to FIFA at the moment. I'm sure by game time tomorrow they'll have their decision. We've made it clear that we want to wear it."
Opportunists flocked to betting sites to place bets on Kane and Bale to be shown the first yellow cards in England's clash with Iran and in Wales' game with the United States, respectively. One punter is believed to have placed a £20 double on said market and could rake in a return of just under £10,000 if the duo are both shown the first yellow cards in their nation's respective World Cup openers.
Gareth Southgate seconded Kane's admission. The England boss said: "There's nothing I can add to what Harry has said, I know there are conversations going on, I think a number of European countries have spoken, we've made our position clear, hopefully, everything will be resolved before the game."
So far, FIFA have failed to respond to the FA's request to get approval for the armband and have failed to offer any clarity on the issue to the media. As it stands, bookmakers such as Sky Bet have suspended on the market in question, with Kane and Bale seemingly still set to be issued yellow cards.
