Why are MPs wearing blue flowers at PMQs?

MANY people will have noticed MPs wearing blue flowers in the House of Commons today.

Labour's MP for Luton South Rachel Hopkins was among those to be spotted wearing the pin and several could be seen across the chamber.

But what are the flowers and what are they for?

What are the blue flowers for?

It looks as though the badges are in support of those living with Alzheimer’s, with this week marking the Alzheimer’s Society annual conference.

It took place on May 14 with this week also marking Dementia Action week.

The conference brought "together key decision makers who understand the urgent necessity of tackling dementia".

What is Alzheimer’s?

Alzheimer’s is a physical illness which causes damage to a person’s brain and eventually causes dementia.

Symptoms include memory problems, thinking and reasoning difficulties and language problems.
