Who will win the World Cup 2022 golden boot? Robert Lewandowski set to surprise

In just four days' time, the Three Lions will officially get their 2022 World Cup campaign underway when they go up against Iran in the Group B opener on Monday. England landed in Qatar on Tuesday and have begun preparations for the match, with training sessions taking place since.

Each player selected by Gareth Southgate will no doubt play an important role at some point over the next few weeks, but one of his most crucial men is captain Harry Kane, who will be responsible for banging in the goals - a responsibility he will handle well.

That’s according to LotteryCritic.com, whose study has predicted the Spurs forward to outscore the likes of Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema to finish third in the race for the Golden Boot.

The study consisted of a points-based index system looking into the top 50 most valuable players that will be at the World Cup via Transfermarkt. The index analysed the goal-to-appearance ratio so far this season and each player's FIFA 23 shooting stats to conclude who is likely to score most throughout the tournament.

Barcelona and Poland’s Robert Lewandowski is projected to finish first with a likelihood score of 95.90 out of 100, while Paris Saint-Germain and France striker Kylian Mbappe falls slightly behind in second place with a score of 92.85.

Kane is predicted to pip Messi to third place with a score of 91.85, with the Argentinian scoring 89.80. Here are the top fifteen from the Golden Boot prediction alongside their scores:
