Who will win Rangers vs Celtic? Our writers make their big game predictions ahead of crucial Ibrox showdown

We're just hours away from a monumental day in Glasgow.

Celtic travel to Ibrox with Rangers just three points behind going into the crucial Premiership run-in.

Ange Postecoglou's side will cross the city divide full of confidence having battered Gio van Bronckhorst's men at Parkhead the last time these two faced off.

However, his opposite number will have derby revenge on his mind in front of a raucous home crowd.

The last time these two heavyweights met in Govan it was a narrow 1-0 win for the home side, and a repeat would mean only goal difference separate the top two.

It's one of the tightest Old Firms to call in recent memory but how's it going to go? Our writers have had their say...

Keith Jackson

It's crunch time for Rangers if they want to reclaim their title. Very often, in the heat of a championship battle, the team that has to win these matches manages to find a way. A draw would be enough to keep Celtic on course but they’ll be going flat out for the win too. Expect fireworks.

Rangers 3 Celtic 2

David McCarthy

It won’t be a cagey affair, that’s for sure. Celtic will come at their rivals and Rangers are best suited to hitting swiftly on the counter...which is why I think it will suit them and they edge a result that will keep the title race in the balance.

Rangers 2 Celtic 1

Scott Burns

It should be a much tighter affair than the last time. The big Ibrox crowd will be massive for Rangers and they know, in terms of the title, it is a game they can’t afford to lose. Ryan Kent will be vital for the home side and I can see Giorgos Giakoumakis being a big player for Celtic.

Both teams look like they’ll be starting without their main men up front but that’s a bigger issue for Gers who have relied on Alfredo Morelos’ goals lately. Ange Postecoglou’s Hoops on the other hand have coped remarkably well without Kyogo Furuhashi for these past few months. The Japanese ace is fit again but it would be a major surprise to see him thrust straight back into action so it’ll be a straight pick between Giorgos Giakoumakis and Daizen Maeda. However, Gio van Bronckhorst’s side have shown in Europe they’re capable of digging out big results when it matters and the return of Ryan Jack should mean they don’t get swatted aside like last time.

Rangers 1 Celtic 0

Fraser Wilson

Nobody can honestly predict this one with any confidence. There’s so little between the sides that the outcome will likely come down to one slip, a moment of genius or, God forbid, a refereeing decision. Celtic’s domestic momentum has been massively impressive and while fingers still get pointed at their backline they have the best defensive record in the league. Giorgos Giakoumakis to net the only goal of the game and move the Hoops a step closer to the title.

Rangers 0 Celtic 1

Graeme Young

The draw may feel like the safe option with so little to split the pair but the game is sure to bring more drama than your usual stalemate. Expect Celtic to take the game to Rangers early and often as they look to follow up their rousing 3-0 win with another signature result. But even if the league leaders strike first, expect a response this time around from Gio van Bronckhorst's side. Even with Alfredo Morelos absent, the champions know defeat is a non negotiable.

Rangers 2 Celtic 2

Mark Pirie

The Ibrox crowd could be a huge difference maker on the day, but it's hard to forget the drubbing handed out by Ange Postecoglou's men the last time these two went head to head. Alfredo Morelos will be a huge miss, and with Kemar Roofe being handed limited minutes under Gio van Bronckhorst it's hard to know what you are going to get from the Jamaica cap if he is named in the starting line-up. At full-time in Govan I expect the Premier title to still be hanging in the balance.
