Who will replace Love Island's Laura Whitmore - Fans call for show legends and rival stars

Bets are on for Laura Whitmore's Love Island replacement.

The Irish host, 37, announced she was stepping down from the role last night and now a number of names are in the mix for her successor.

In-demand presenter Maya Jama has been chalked up as the early favourite with odds of 3/1.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “There will be plenty of competition lining up to replace Laura Whitmore on Love Island, but since betting opened Maya Jama is the name punters are most interested in.”

As soon as Laura revealed she was quitting the show fans flocked to Twitter saying they thought the Bristol-born presenter would be a good fit for the programme.

One said: "Maya Jama should host love island. She was in the line up of who would host it when Caroline flack left before the first winter one started #loveisland."

While another suggested: "Petition for @MayaJama to be the new love island host #loveisland."

Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu is also in the mix.

With her witty one liners and down-to-earth charm the actress won viewers over in no time.

Speculating on the next host for the show, one fan tweeted: "I would love Ekin-Su to host love island."

And another thought the star's partner Davide Sanclimenti should co-host, suggesting: "Ekin-Su to present with Davide taking Stirling's job! Can you even imagine his one liners?"

Also in the running is Inbetweeners star Emily Atack with odds of 4/1.

The blonde bombshell was a hoot on Celebrity Juice and fans reckon she'd do a great job in the villa.

One viewer tweeted the star was 'definitely a contender' as they pointed out her long history with ITV.

Other names on the table are Love Island alumna, Maura Higgins with odds of 8/1, Rylan Clark at 12/1 and Emma Willis at 14/1.

Strictly star AJ Odudu, Mo Gilligan, Joanne McNally, Brian Dowling and Vicky Pattinson are also possible replacements.

Mum-of-one Laura took over the role from the late Caroline Flack back 2020, but has now decided to step down as presenter after three seasons.

She announced her news on Instagram on Monday evening - just days after saying she was struggling with the backlash she faced from fans in the latest series.

She wrote: "Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love island.

"There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

"I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series.

"I hope I did you proud Caroline."
