Who will replace Holly Willoughby on Dancing on Ice? Phillip Schofield set to make history on show

Phillip Schofield is set to make Dancing on Ice history on Sunday night, after it was confirmed that Holly Willoughby had contracted coronavirus.

Phillip himself was forced to miss a week of This Morning and one Dancing on Ice live show after testing positive for Covid back at the start of February.

And now it's Holly who's been struck down, with a Dancing on Ice spokesperson saying: ""Unfortunately, Holly Willoughby is unable to host tonight's show after testing positive for Covid-19.

"We look forward to Holly returning for the Dancing on Ice Live Final."

In the same statement, ITV bosses confirmed that, rather than replace Holly with another host, like when Stephen Mulhern stood in for Phillip, Phillip will present the show on his own.

That makes a big first for Dancing on Ice as, when Holly took a break in 2012, she was replaced for a number of series by Christine Lampard, rather than Phillip doing the show solo.

Phillip took to Instagram to address Holly being forced to miss Sunday's Dancing on Ice.

Posting a selfie of the pair together on his Insta story, Phillip wrote: "Gutted my mate won't be with me on Dancing on Ice tonight.

"Get well soon darlin'."

As well as holly being missing in action, there are a number of other notable differences to Sunday's Dancing on Ice.

Firstly, it will start at the later time of 7.30pm, rather than its usual 6 or 6.30pm kick off time.

And then there are two firsts for 2022, with all the remaining couples skating twice before the axe falls on not one, but two of them, in a double elimination.
