Chelsea have sensationally sacked Thomas Tuchel following a poor start to the season.
The Blues fell to a 1-0 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb in their opening Champions League group-stage game on Tuesday evening, and the club confirmed on Wednesday morning that they had parted ways with Tuchel. The loss in Croatia - Tuchel's 100th game in charge - was Chelsea's third defeat of the campaign, having already lost two of their first six Premier League games so far.
Tuchel had previously led Chelsea to success on multiple fronts, clinching the Champions League in his first season at Stamford Bridge. The Uefa Super Cup and Club World Cup swiftly followed, but the Blues came up short domestically to Liverpool and Manchester City. Todd Boehly completed his takeover of the club in a summer of huge upheaval, with a number of key personnel such as Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech departing.
Chelsea spent more than £200million in the summer transfer window as Boehly attempted to make his mark, but Tuchel cut an increasingly frustrated figure as a disjointed squad found confidence and results hard to come by this season.
