ITV's The Masked Dancer UK has returned for 2022. The brand new series kicked off on Saturday, September 3 with a line-up of 12 new characters.
The programme sees celebrities attempt to baffle, bewilder and bamboozle the panel and viewers alike with their fancy footwork and dazzling dance moves whilst covered from head to toe in extravagant and elaborate costumes.
The series is a spin-off of The Masked Singer and sees host Joel Dommett return to the stage while Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross return to the judging panel alongside Oti Mabuse and Peter Crouch, who is standing in for comedian Mo Gilligan.

Among those in the original line-up were Candlestick, Scissors, Odd Socks, Prawn Cocktail, and Pillar and Post. Each week one character will be unveiled by the judges and voted off the show, but who has been revealed so far?

Who was unmasked on The Masked Dancer?
Episode eight (final) - Heather Morris as Scissors, Andy Garcia as Onomatopoeia and Bruno Tonioli as Pearly King
In the show's final, Glee star Heather Morris was unmasked as Scissors and she was also crowned the 2022 series winner.
Before her, Andy Garcia was unveiled as Onomatopoeia and Bruno Tonioli as Pearly King.
Episode seven - Kimberly Walsh as Odd Socks and Denise Lewis as Sea Slug
In the show's semi-final, the celebrity panel, which included Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall, Peter Crouch and guest panellist John Bishop, saw a double eliminationwith two stars being unmasked. Girls Aloud star Kimberly Walsh missed out on a place in the final as Odd Socks while Denise Lewis was unveiled as Sea Slug.
Of the experience, Kimberly said: “I did this for my kids, they love this show. They have no idea. I had to pick Odd Socks, I’m a mum of three boys, that’s my life.” Describing the show in three words, she said: "Madness, hilarious, random."
Olympic gold medalist and athlete Denise Lewis told the show's host, Joel Dommett: “It’s been outstanding, seriously!” Although she revealed that keeping the show a secret "has been the most challenging part of doing the show - not being able to say a word.” She even admitted: “Didn’t tell [my husband]… I’ve been the best student, I have to say.”
Speaking of why she wanted to take in the show, she said: "I turn 50 this year so I wanted a challenge."
Episode six - Liam Charles as Candlestick
Candlestick was revealed to be television presenter and British Bake off Star Liam Charles. Judges Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall, Peter Crouch and special guest panellist Mo Gilligan chose to unmask Candlestick
After he was unveiled, Liam said: "I promise you I have zero dance experience." Explaining why he decided to take on the challenge, Liam said: "I thought it was very different to what I do normally, so I thought why not."
Episode five - David Seaman and Frankie Poultney as Pillar & Post (withdrawn)
Former goalkeeper David Seaman and his wife Frankie Poultney were forced to withdraw from the competition after sustaining an injury in rehearsals.
Frankie said: "We were gutted as we absolutely loved every minute. It was great fun but a tumble meant our Masked journey came to an end too soon, we had such a blast and we were sad that we had to hang up our masks without being able to share our final dance with you all.
"We have loved being part of this series and we wish the other competitors the best of luck as we continue to watch at home and try to guess who all the other celebrities are."
Episode five - Steph McGovern as Tomato Sauce
The television presenter, best known for Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch, was eliminated in episode five. After the surprise reveal, Steph said: "I've loved it, I had the time of my life!"
Episode four - Gareth Malone as Cactus
Viewers were left in shock when Gareth Malone was unveiled to be the fourth celebrity on the ITV show. The music and choir star managed to fool the judges, with guesses from the panel including Dougie Pointer, Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones and Amir Khan.
Once unmasked, Gareth, 46, admitted: "I was sick with nerves because I'm so out of my comfort zone and I don't know how to dance." You can read more on this here.
Episode three - Stacey Dooley as Prawn Cocktail
Journalist Stacey is no stranger to a television dancing competition, having won alongside Strictly Come Dancing alongside now boyfriend Kevin Clifton in 2018. However, Stacey failed to secure another week on the show with her performance of Dance Jam.
Stacey told host Joel Dommett she'd had "an absolute ball" on the programme.
Episode two - Joanna Page as Pig
The Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page was the second contestant to be eliminated from the competition. The 45-year-old found herself in the bottom two alongside Pearly King and Cactus who were ultimately saved by judges Peter Crouch, Davina McCall, Oti Mabuse and Joanthan Ross.
Joanna managed to completely bamboozle the panel, with guesses including Frankie Dettori and Richard Hammond. "You were all absolutely miles away," Joel Dommett told the judges as Joanna took off her mask.
Asked what she thought of the guesses, Joanna said: "Oh my goodness, really quite funny. I was quite pleased you all thought I was a man." The actress then revealed the number 47 was a big clue as it was the Barry house her character lived in on Gavin and Stacey.
In a sweet moment, Joanna then shared that her kids were unaware she was doing The Masked Dancer. She said: "The children don't know or anything, this is their favourite programme." You can read more on this here.
Episode one - Jesse Metcalfe as Astronaut
In the first edition of the show, Astronaut was unveiled to be Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe. The American actor went head to head with Candlestick and Pillar and Post but ultimately ended up being the first to be voted off by the judges.
When asked why he decided to take part, Jesse said: "I thought it would be fun because dance is something that really intimidates me so it's a fear that I wanted to face.
"This has been unbelievable, it's one of the most zany things I’ve ever done in my career but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself."
