Who was Michael Nader? Dynasty star who played Dex Dexter

American actor Michael Nader has passed away at the age of 76.

A handsome star on the small screen, he will be best remembered for his role in mega-hit US soap opera 'Dynasty' as Dex Dexter from 1983 to 1989.

Nader also appeared in 402 episodes of daytime soap 'All My Children', playing Dimitri Marick.

"With heavy heart, I'm sharing the news of the passing of my beloved, Michael," Nader's wife, Jodi Lister, said in a statement.

"We had 18 wonderful years together with the many dogs we fostered and adopted. Recently, Michael was so thrilled to reconnect with his friends from the cast of Dynasty during Emma Samm's virtual event to help raise funds for Long-Covid research. He was a beautiful and fascinating man with many talents and skills. I will miss him forever."

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Nader moved to Los Angeles with his mother who was trying to pursue a career in entertainment.

Shortly after graduating Palisades Charter High School in 1963, he secured small roles in several of the American International Pictures 'Beach Party' films, with credits listing him as Mike Nader.

He won his first recurring role in surfing sitcom series 'Gidget' as Siddo in 1965, then came his big break into the mainstream.

As the World Turns, a soap opera that was on air for 54 years, saw Nader play Kevin Thompson from 1975 to 1978.

At the programme's end in 2010, it held the record of the fourth-longest continuous run of any daytime network soap opera and boasted 13,858 episodes.

Playing the owner and CEO of Dexter International, Nader's character was introduced into Dynasty as a love interest for Joan Collins' character Alexis Colby.

Initially Nader's character was only meant to be a minor one, but thanks to his on-screen chemistry with Collins, he was soon written into the series permanently and married Alexis Colby later in the show.

On the death of her-onscreen husband, Collins took to Instagram to post a tribute.

"Very sad to hear of the death of my onscreen husband and lover #michaelnader aka #dexdexter - I loved working with him and his character was a wonderful mixture of tough and tender. #alexis was crazy to keep on rejecting him! #rip #ripmichaelnader".
