Who was Jade Goody's father and why did she disown him?

Brave Jade Goody will be remembered for her love of her family and remained close with her mum Jackiey Budden up until her tragic death aged 27.

But mum of two Jade made one decision after giving birth to son Bobby - she decided to cut her father Andrew Goody out of her life.

Andrew, who died aged 42, was a drug addict and habitual criminal who spent time in prison, including a four-year term for robbery.

Jade decided to disown her father because of his drug use.

He was found slumped against a toilet at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Bournemouth, Dorset, by a member of staff in 2005.

An inquest heard here was a syringe on the floor by his body.

Unemployed Mr Goody, who was living in Bournemouth, had been battling his heroin addiction since he was 19, the inquest heard.

He started sniffing glue at eight years old, moving on to alcohol and cannabis when he was 12.

He had previously overdosed on paracetamol and heroin but had survived.

Mr Goody split from Jade's mother Jackie when Jade was two. Former dental assistant Jade, 24, was brought up in Bermondsey, south-east London, by her mother.

Coroner Sheriff Payne recorded that Mr Goody "died as a result of dependence on drugs".

A post-mortem examination revealed he had died on August 21 of heroin poisoning.
