Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant accidentally spills funny show secret

A contestant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? revealed one of the show's secrets.

The player, who was sitting in the hotseat, spilled the behind the scenes goss as the episode was coming to an end last week. The popular ITV quiz show, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, sees contestants answer up to 15 questions in a bid to win £1 million.

A single wrong answer can see them either going home empty-handed or with whatever their safety ladder is set at. Every player has four lifelines to use as they work their way up the money ladder - Ask The Audience, 50:50, Phone A Friend and Ask The Host.

Player Maria King had her turn cut short last Saturday as the klaxon sounded indicating the end of the episode as she sat at the £4,000 mark with all of her lifelines still available. That was when she accidentally let slip one of the primetime quiz show's secret.

As the klaxon sounded, Jeremy asked: "Ah well, do you know what that means?" Without thinking, Maria said: "I have to go and get changed?"

Laughter came from the studio audience as Maria realised what she had said. She covered her mouth before adding: "I'm not supposed to say that am I?"

The host added more details to the secret, as he said: "That's exactly what it means, because that's absolutely right, I will be seeing you in about an hour's time but for as far as the viewers are concerned you are going home, you are going to be panicking 'oh no' and then we will see you next week.

"So you are absolutely right that is the end of the show, you do have to go and get changed, and Maria will be back next time, it says on the autocue, to see if she can get further than - where are you - £4,000."
