On the day of final cuts, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a trade to acquire former Denver Broncos outside linebacker Malik Reed. This gives the Steelers a guy with 34 career starts and 13 sacks in the last two seasons.
This creates an interesting predicament for Pittsburgh. Reed is absolutely a starter in this league. He’s been more productive than current starter Alex Highsmith and a case could be made he is a better all-around defender.
But would the Steelers supplant Highsmith with Reed after just trading for him, even if he is better? That is today’s question.
Last season the Steelers brought in Melvin Ingram to be the third linebacker in some capacity and the entire situation blew up in the Steelers face. How do they avoid that this season with Reed? It might be to make him the starter. Cast your vote below and tell us which guy should start opposite T.J. Watt.
