Who should be the next Aberdeen boss?
Keith Jackson: Of course Dave Cormack could always swallow his pride and beg Derek McInnes to return. But he won’t. So Neil Lennon becomes an obvious option. He’d certainly light a fire under that home dressing room. But he might be too much like hard work for a chairman who likes things done his way.
Craig Swan: Dave Cormack needs to find a no-nonsense character who can instill a team spirit, an organisation and weed out bad sorts. Start from there. Credentials first, then name.
Fraser Wilson: They need experience, someone who can hit the ground running and above all else sort out the defence. Maybe it’s time for another attempt to prise Kjetil Knutsen away from Bodo Glimt. Or a homecoming for Derek Adams?
Scott Burns: The likes of Chris Wilder would float the boat of a lot of Aberdeen fans. I also think Tam Courts would be a good appointment but one from left-field I would look at is former Scotland under-21 cap Nick Montgomery at Central Coast Mariners. He is 2nd in the A-League and has developed guys like Kye Rowles and Garange Kuol.
Is Lee Johnson the man to get it right at Hibs?
Keith Jackson: He’s getting there on the pitch but the club is a mess behind the scenes. Saturday’s performance is the latest indicator that the Englishman might be able to turn it all around against the odds.
Craig Swan: Looking at the way he’s getting people out of the door, he sees the problems and is working to fix them. That’s a good sign, so yes.
Fraser Wilson: Yes. Hibs was always going to be a long-term job. It’s a rollercoaster at the moment but there are signs that things are moving forward and with the dog-eat-dog nature of the Premiership, combined with a couple of defensive signings and holding onto Kevin Nisbet in the next two days, they could well sneak into Europe.
Scott Burns : I do think he needs to be given more time. He is a proven manager and if he is given the time, the backing and freedom to bring in his own players then I think he can be a success at Hibs.
Who will be relegated from the Premiership?
Keith Jackson: With four teams locked on 20 points - and St Johnstone not clear of danger either - it’s set up for one helluva run to the line. St Johnstone and Ross County have looked in trouble for a while. But this one now feels too close to call.
Craig Swan: Motherwell are on a worrying slide. Killie and Ross County can get results at home and Dundee United have a better squad.
Fraser Wilson: The form book suggests Motherwell and Steven Hammell will need his January signings to step up and fast. Dundee United and Kilmarnock will pick up enough points to steer clear so it comes down to Well and County for me.
Scott Burns: A few weeks ago I said Ross County. They now look to have added more firepower and got a big win at the weekend. As it stands, I would have to say there are genuine concerns over Motherwell who are on a dismal league run and Kilmarnock, who have a mounting injury list.
Are Dundee on course to return to the Premiership?
Keith Jackson: They’ve been my tip for a while now and Saturday’s win over Queens Park has left them sitting dangerously on the shoulders of the top two. They should have just enough to get the job done from here and strike for home.
Craig Swan: The Taysiders did themselves a big favour at the weekend and look good, but there is more expectation and pressure on them than Queen’s Park or Ayr to get it done. Long way to go.
Fraser Wilson: They’re right in the mix and remain my tip to win the Championship. But that was their first league win this year and in the ultra-competitive second tier it’s going to go right to the wire. Despite Saturday’s result Queen’s Park have shown they have the quality to lift the title too.
Scott Burns: Dundee were the team I backed at the start of the season. Queen’s Park were on a good run and I don’t think you can discount them but you would have to fancy the Dark Blues to come good.
