Who's in the cast of Blood season 2? Meet the actors in Channel 5's gripping drama

Channel 5’s Irish crime drama Blood returns tonight for a second season of deception and mistrust.

The first season of the psychological drama followed a woman named Cat Hogan (Carolina Main) returning to her hometown following the death of her mother Mary (Ingrid Cragie), who suffered from Motor Neurone Disease.

Cat became suspicious of her father Jim (Adrian Dunbar), believing he had something to do with her mother's death – and the shocking truth was revealed in the emotional finale of season one.

When does Blood return to Channel 5?

Blood’s seconds season kicks off at 9pm on Monday, April 27.

The five episodes of season two will roll out on consecutive nights this week, with the feature-length finale airing on Friday, May 1.

Blood stars Adrian Dunbar in the lead role of Jim Hogan.

Dunbar is known for his crime dramas, with a leading role in BBC's Line of Duty.

Meanwhile, Grainne Keenan plays Fiona, Jim’s eldest daughter, while Ian Lloyd Anderson plays her husband, Paul Crowley.

Keenan has starred in a number of major films including The Foreigner and The Wife, while Anderson is known for the Irish series Love/Hate.

Fiona Bell and Denis Conway play Gillian and Tom Mooney, close friends of Fiona and Paul, while Desmond Eastwood plays their adopted son Owen.

Meanwhile, Detective Dez Breen is played by Seán Duggan, known for The Lobster and The Sisters Brothers.

What is season 2 about?

Blood’s second season finds Jim returning home after a year away to find Fiona is ailing from the same illness that her mother was suffering from.

Her husband Paul is struggling to support her, and Jim’s efforts to reconnect with the family only add to the grief.

Things become complicated when Jim discovers suspicious activity at the farm where Paul works - and things take a shocking turn when Fiona’s car crashes.

The family gather round to support her, but are shocked when Detective Breen arrives to deliver some shocking news.
