Who Rangers could potentially play in the Europa League play-off

Rangers' Europa League fate remains up in the air following their late defeat at the hands of Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes cancelled out Cyriel Dessers' brilliant strike with a late hit of his own to send the Old Trafford crowd wild in Manchester.

The result propels United into fourth in the league phase standings, while Philippe Clement's side are 13th.

That signifies a seeded play-off spot, as things stand.

With a home match against Union SG still to come this week, Rangers could well finish in the top eight and AVOID the Europa League play-off altogether.

On the flip side, despite being a more unlikely scenario, the Scottish Premiership side could slip down the table with another bad result in Europe to instead be unseeded for the play-off.

However, as things stand, here are the Europa League play-off details Rangers fans need to know...

Who could Rangers face in the Europa League play-off?

As things stand, while sitting in 13th spot, it'll be either Midtjylland or Elfsborg given their corresponding 19th and 20th positions in the table.

However, the standings could very much change heading into the final matchday of the league phase.

The teams currently holding an unseeded play-off spot include:

PAOK

Real Sociedad

FC Midtjylland

Elfsborg

Roma

Ferencvaros

Fenerbahce

Besiktas

Rangers will very much still harbour hopes of finishing in the top eight to avoid an additional two matches in the knockouts.

That said, if it is to be the play-offs, they'll want to make sure they're seeded to give themselves the best possible chance of progressing to the last-16.

Who can Rangers not play in the Europa League play off?

Lazio (guaranteed a top-eight spot)

RFS (Out)

Slavia Prague (Out)

Malmo (Out)

Ludogorets Razgrad (Out)

Qarabag FK (Out)

Nice (Out)

Dynamo Kyiv (Out)

When is the draw for the Europa League play-off?

The draw will be held TOMORROW on Friday, January 31.

It will commence at 12pm UK time.

It will be held at UEFA's Nyom HQ in Swizterland.

When will the Europa League play-off be played?

The first leg of the play-off will take place on Thursday, February 13.

The second leg will occur a week later on Thursday, February 20.

Seeded teams will enjoy home advantage in the second leg.
