Ange Postecoglou says some players might leave Celtic. Who do you think might go?
KEITH JACKSON: Kyogo Furuhashi is the obvious headline act and if Postecoglou is on his way to north London then he may well wish to take the Japanese striker with him. Celtic would bank top dollar but it’s a scenario they would rather avoid. On both counts.
DAVID McCARTHY: Players who have been unable to force their way into his regular starting X1 like David Turnbull, James McCarthy, and Liel Abada - who could go for big money - will probably be on their way. Aaron Mooy, had a good season but may move on if new midfield recruits arrive.
FRASER WILSON: It’s time for Stephen Welsh and Conor Hazard to move to progress their careers. Celtic could well be tempted by offers for Alexandro Bernabei and David Turnbull. But the big question is would they resist big offers for Kyogo or Cameron Carter-Vickers?
SCOTT BURNS: If Ange Postecoglou does leave then the only player I can see him coming back for is Kyogo. I can see Liel Abada, Steven Welsh, Vasilis Barkas, David Turnbull and Conor Hazard all being sold.
Will Rangers break Celtic's stranglehold on the silverware next season?
KEITH: That depends entirely on what happens over the coming days and weeks. Regardless of who comes and goes at Celtic, Rangers have a huge rebuild on their hands and Michael Beale will have to spend wisely this summer to have any hope of making his side competitive.
DAVID: If they don’t, Michael Beale is unlikely to be there at the end of it. So much could depend on Ange Postecoglou still be in at Celtic. If he is, there’s no doubt Rangers’ job is going to be much more difficult.
FRASER: Million dollar question that. If Ange isn’t around then Celtic will need to get his replacement spot on or the answer to this will be yes. Rangers have made progress under Michael Beale and Celtic cannot relax.
SCOTT: It really is impossible to say. We have to see what happens with Ange Postecoglou and then how Michael Beale recruits. A lot of water still has to go under the bridge.
Will West Ham and Manchester City complete an English Euro final double this week?
KEITH: While it’s hard to see anything other than a historic City treble, West Ham will have their work cut out against Fiorentina. That final feels very much like a toss of the coin job.
DAVID: Manchester City are probably the best team on the planet at the moment and should beat Inter Milan in the Champions League final. West Ham v Fiorentina could go either way but it would be great to see another Scottish manager get his hands on a European trophy.
FRASER: I fancy West Ham to see off Fiorentina and earn David Moyes a place alongside the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Jock Stein, Willie Waddell and Bill Shankly as Scots’ Euro winners. And moneybags Manchester City should be too strong for Inter. So yes.
SCOTT: Manchester City will win the Champions League but I am not convinced West Ham will beat Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final. I hope so, though, as I would like to see David Moyes do it.
After their play off heartbreak, will Partick Thistle go one better next season?
KEITH: They’ll have to regroup and that may take some time. But the style of football they’ve been playing belongs in the top flight.
DAVID : They’ll be in the mix if they play as they have done so far under Kris Doolan. But Dundee United and Inverness will be very strong in that division next season, so there are no guarantees.
FRASER: Yes - but only if they keep this squad together and add a few more. The likes of Aidan Fitzpatrick, Kyle Turner, Scott Tiffoney and Harry Milne will attract interest this summer and rightly so. Keep that quartet and they have the quality to do it. Maybe through the play-offs but I’d fancy them.
SCOTT: They have the basis with Kris Doolan as manager but it depends if they can keep together the bulk of their current squad. The early signs are good and they are a club going in the right direction.
