Who Man City could face in the Carabao Cup fourth round after Chelsea victory

Manchester City are through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after their victory over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium. Following a goalless first half, City turned on the charm in the second 45 to seal their place in the hat. Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring with a brilliant free-kick in the 53rd minute.

Julian Alvarez was on hand just five minutes later to tap home a second as their progression was secured. City were left thankful for their 'keeper Stefan Ortega who produced a series of top-class saves to deny Christian Pulisic, Lewis Hall and Raheem Sterling.

Victory on Wednesday night has seen the Blues qualify for the last 16 of the competition ahead of the break for the winter World Cup which begins following this weekend's Premier League matchday. The draw for the next round will take place immediately after Manchester United's clash with Aston Villa on Thursday night at Old Trafford.
