Michael Mosley is a journalist, TV presenter, producer and former doctor. He has worked for the BBC since 1985.
Born in Kolkata, India, in 1957, Mosley studied philosophy, politics and economics at New College, Oxford before switching to medicine.
Mosley intended to become a psychiatrist and studied at the Royal Free Hospital Medical School in London.
However, he became disillusioned with psychiatry and joined the BBC in 1985, producing several science programmes before becoming a presenter himself.

Today, he is best known as the man who made the 5:2 diet famous. The diet involves limiting yourself to 600 calories on two days a week while eating normally the rest of the time.
Mosley says the diet helped him lose 20lbs and reverse his Type 2 diabetes - the condition which killed his father.
