Brentford head coach Thomas Frank refused to confirm whether Ivan Toney has played his last game for the club.
The England striker missed the first half of last season after serving an eight-month ban for breaching Football Association gambling rules but has been attracting transfer interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea this summer.
Toney, 28, wasn't included in the Brentford squad for their English Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on Sunday, with Frank suggesting the speculation surrounding the players future influenced his decision.
“There are a lot of things going on with Ivan, especially on transfers.
“There’s some transfer interest. Because of all that we’ve decided not to involve him in the squad.
“Of course Ivan is a top player, we all know that. He’s been fantastic for us over the four years but we’ve also shown, especially last year, that we can deal without him.”

When asked if he expects Toney to represent Brentford again, Frank replied: “Who knows? There’s interest, but it’s not close.”
