Addressing fans and the media after being indicted on 34 charges stemming from hush money payments, Donald Trump thanked his daughter Tiffany Trump in a rare show of public affection.
The daughter of Marla Maples is the least regularly seen of Trump’s five offspring and has been in the shadows while Ivanka Trump filled official roles.
However, with Ivanka and Trump’s current wife, Melania, absent from his side during the Mar-a-Lago post-arraignment speech, the succession order might be in the process of being shaken up.
And observers at the New York Post and Guardian have speculated that perennial black sheep Tiffany could be waiting in the wings to finally take the spotlight.
Who is Tiffany Trump?
Tiffany Trump is the fourth child and second daughter of Donald Trump and the only child he fathered with his second wife, Marla Maples. She has dabbled in music and fashion but after studying law has, since 2020, worked as a research assistant at Georgetown University Law Center.
Tiffany supported her father throughout the 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns but did not play a key role – whereas Trump’s sons Donald Jr and Eric and his daughter Ivanka were front and centre to the bid. His first three children were with the late Ivana Trump.
Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, said in his memoir that Ivana’s children would refer to Tiffany as the “red-haired stepchild” of the family and criticise her looks.
However, she was personally thanked during the Mar-a-Lago speech.
Trump said: “Don [Junior] here has done a great job, and I have another son here who’s done a great job … And Tiffany and Ivanka, and Barron will be great someday … But I have a great family, they’ve done a fantastic job and we appreciate it very much.”
Ivanka has distanced herself from helping her father with his 2024 presidential ambitions, which could potentially pave the way for Tiffany to step up.
Who is Marla Maples?
Tiffany’s mother is the former actress and model Marla Maples who met Trump in 1984 while he was still married to first wife Ivana.
The pair married in 1993 and had one child before separating in 1997 and divorcing in 1999. A gagging clause in a pre-marriage agreement between the two has stopped her speaking publicly about her life with Trump and a memoir she wrote was not published.
Who is Tiffany Trump married to?
Tiffany Trump had been at Mar-a-Lago in November for her wedding to Michael Boulos, a Lebanese-American business executive whom she had been dating since 2018.
Her father gave a speech and danced with the bride after the ceremony.
