Who is the Is It Cake? presenter Mikey Day on Netflix?

Is It Cake? premiered yesterday on Netflix as it looks at bakers to create realistic illusion cakes that replicate everyday objects. It is so convincingly rendered that it’s hard to tell what is dessert. The guesser wins a cash prize.

The competition is judged by Friday singer Rebecca Black, Saturday Night Live (SNL) cast member Heidi Gardner, food critic Daym Drops and TikTok creator Brittany Broski. The show is hosted by another SNL star Mikey Day.

You might be wondering who is Day and what the new Netflix show is about. Here's everything you need to know.

Who is the Is It Cake? presenter Mikey Day?

Day is an American writer, producer, comedian and actor. He joined SNL as a writer in its 39th season, became a featured player in its 42nd, and was promoted to a repertory player beginning in its 44th season.

For his audition, he impersonated Donald Trump Jr. and SNL actor Kyle Mooney. His debut appearance was in season 42's first episode, October 1, 2016, hosted by Margot Robbie.

What is Is It Cake? about?

Consisting of eight episodes, the baking show’s official synopsis reads: “Deception is the name of the game for the world’s most talented bakers who will compete to create hyper-realistic cakes that look exactly like everyday objects – with cash on the line. But are they good enough to deceive a panel of celebrity judges… and you? You’ll be asking yourself ‘is it real?’ Or…Is It Cake?””

The contestants have to inspect a bunch of things and guess which one of them is a cake. Day tests whether it’s cake or not by chopping it up with his sword. A bit like Bake Off, the contestants have to try to bake a cake that looks like something that isn’t a cake for the bulk of the show.

Then the judges have to guess whether the cake is real or not and judges eat the cake to see which tastes the best. The winner has to pick between two bags of cash, and if they pick the bag that isn’t a cake, they win.
