The excitement around the competition has gotten plenty of fans looking into the various members of the incredibly promising England squad, including 21-year-old winger Lauren Hemp.
Who is Lauren Hemp?
Born in North Walsham, Lauren Hemp is widely recognised as one of the biggest rising stars that the England side has to boast going into this Euro 2022 competition. She was recently voted the Professional Footballers' Association Young Player of the Year for 2022 but is no stranger to the award, having also won it in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
She joined her current side, Manchester City, in 2018 from Bristol and has consistently been one of their most impressive players ever since. She proved the club's top scorer in the previous season with twenty-one goals and ten assists.
Hemp is famous for her speed, agility, and technique, which has seen her slice through the defence of many a side. This will undoubtedly prove a tremendous asset to England in the Euro 2022 competition.
She recently told The Telegraph: "I like the fact people have those expectations of me. If you have one good game for England, you're expected to have another. That's just the way it is when you play for your country and your club."
"I've set a benchmark for myself and I want that pressure this summer. I want to be the best, I want to be the player in this team that people look for to make something happen."
She recently featured on one of several billboards placed around London by the Lioness team, in partnership with Nike, with Hemp's simply reading, "You've never seen speed like this."
