The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will battle it out in Super Bowl 59, but the action begins with the singing of the National Anthem prior to kickoff.
Grammy-winning musician Jon Batiste will sing the National Anthem before the Super Bowl. Batiste is a five-time Grammy Award winner and 22-time Grammy nominee and his genres include jazz, hip-hop, and R&B.
Batiste is no stranger to performing at sporting events, having performed the National Anthem before the 2017 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans, as well as performing on the Opening Night of the 2017 US Open.
Lauren Daigle and Trombone Shorty will perform “America the Beautiful.”
All three performers have a tie to the host city, New Orleans, as all three were born in the state of Louisiana. Batiste and Shorty attended New Orleans Center for Creative Arts while Daigle attended Louisiana State University.
“We’re honored to work with this year’s pregame lineup to celebrate the rich musical legacy of New Orleans and the entire state,” Seth Dudowsky, head of music at the NFL, said in an announcement.
Past National Anthem singers include Reba McEntire (2024), Chris Stapleton (2023), Mickey Guyton (2022) and Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan (2021).
