Elon Musk fathered two children last year, court documents show. The Tesla CEO had twins with Shivon Zilis, a top executive at his artificial intelligence company Neuralink.
They welcomed the twins just weeks before Musk had his second child with singer Grimes.
Court documents obtained by Business Insider show that Musk and Zilis filed a petition in April for the twins to "have their father's last name" and their mother’s last name as part of their middle name.
The petition was approved by a Texas judge a month later.

How many children does Elon Musk have?
Elon Musk has fathered a total of 10 children, although his first child sadly died at just 10 weeks old of sudden infant death syndrome.
The billionaire fathered six children with his first wife, Justine Musk. After the death of their first child, the couple went on to welcome twins in 2004 with the help of IVF and in 2006 they also had triplets via IVF.
In May 2020 Musk and his ex-partner, Grimes welcomed their first child together, who they famously named X Æ A-12.
In December 2021 Grimes and Musk secretly welcomed a second child via surrogate, named Exa Dark Sideræl.
Grimes revealed that they’d had another child in a Vanity Fair interview in March 2022.
But just weeks before the arrival of their second child, Musk had welcomed twins with Shivon Zilis.
According to Business Insider, the twins were born in November.
Who is Shivon Zilis?
Shivon Zilis is the mother of Elon Musk’s second set of twins and is one of the top executives at Neuralink.
Neuralink is a neurotechnology company co-founded by Musk in 2016 that develops implantable brain-machine interfaces.
Zilis is the Director of Operations and Special Projects at the company. She began working for the company as a projector director five years ago.
The 36-year-old obtained a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and prior to working at Neuralink she also took on a role as Project Director at Tesla, another of Musk’s companies.
She was born in Canada and first started working for one of Musk’s companies in 2016 when she relocated to San Francisco after being offered a role as an advisor at OpenAI.
