Shane Lowry first burst onto the scene in 2009 when, as an amateur, he won the European Tour's Irish Open. Since that famous victory, he has established himself as one of the world's best players, with several impressive wins including a maiden Major title at the 2019 Open and the 2022 BMW PGA Championship.
Throughout his successes, the Irishman has had his wife, Wendy Honner, by his side. Get to know her a little better here.
Shane and Wendy first met on a "random night out" in 2012. Only two years later, on a beach in Dubai, the former Champion Golfer of the Year proposed, with the couple eventually getting married in New York in 2016.
According to Shane, it was a small ceremony because the guest list began spiralling: "The guest list [was spiralling] and I get stressed very easily, so we decided the big white wedding at home was not what we wanted.
“Anyone who knows Wendy knows that she doesn’t like the limelight or anything like that… It was really all very chilled," Lowry told the Irish Independent.
Together, the pair have homes in Ireland and Florida, where they live with their two daughters, Iris and Ivy.
After claiming victory in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in 2019, Shane stated: “I’ll be honest, as soon as we had Iris, that’s [winning] what I’d dreamed about. To have both Wendy and Iris in Abu Dhabi as I won was just dream stuff, something I wouldn’t really let myself think about until it actually happened because you’d only get emotional thinking about it.
It got even better for Shane a few months later when Wendy and Iris were at Royal Portrush to see the highlight of Lowry's career with his Open title, and Wendy was also with Shane for another career highlight, when he helped Team Europe win the 2023 Ryder Cup.
"But ever since Iris was born, that’s one of the things I’d always hoped for, for them to come out to me on the 18th green at a tournament. Because that would mean only one thing – I was a winner.”
Shane's family were also in attendance at several of the Masters Par 3 Contests, including in 2025, with Wendy caddying for him.
There, Iris charmed the patrons with some impressive golf skills of her own, holing a putt as her proud dad filmed the moment.
When The Masters began, Lowry and was firmly in contention for a second Major title into the third round. With Wendy and his young family alongside him, his life off the course appears to be in equally good health.
