Who is Scottie Scheffler? Masters 2022 winner net worth, age, height and nationality

Scottie Scheffler has gone one step further to suggesting he is currently the best golfer in the world after winning the 2022 Masters Tournament on Sunday to secure his first ever major championship title, which became his fourth victory of the season.

The 25-year-old American moved to number one in the official World Golf Ranking in March after winning his third tournament of the year at the WGC Match Play, which followed up his victories at the WM Phoenix Open and the Arnold Palmer invitational.

And this success on the course has also brought success off it, with Scheffler already securing $8.6 million (£6.6 million) from his four tournament wins in 2022 alone.

Who is Scottie Scheffler?

Scheffler is an American professional golfer who has hit the headlines for all the right reasons in 2022 after already winning four PGA Tour events this year, with the quartet of victories coming within the space of less than 60 days. After a flying start to the year, he is the current World Number 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

The 25-year-old had plenty of early success before turning professional in 2018, having won the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur title and the 2017 Walker Cup with the U.S. team, while he played college golf at the University of Texas between 2014-2018 and helped the team win three Big 12 championships.

In 2016, Scheffler qualified for his first U.S. Open, before repeating it again the following year, and since turning professional four years ago, his career has gotten off to a remarkable start. Off the course, Scheffler also married his girlfriend of six-years Meredith Scudder in 2020.

Professional career

Scheffler has just six wins to his name since turning pro in 2018. His first two victories came at the Korn Ferry Tour a year later, where he launched himself into the spotlight and was named the Korn Ferry Tour player of the year, before making his Masters debut in 2020.

The American dominated the other three majors with top eight finishes at the PGA Championship, U.S. Open and Open Championship, before rounding off his 2021 campaign by defeating world number one Jon Rahm at the 2021 Ryder Cup whilst playing for the U.S. team.

But 2022 has been a huge turning point in his career, with three victories in the space of less than 60 days at the WM Phoenix Open, Arnold Palmer invitational, WGC Match Play and the PGA Masters Tournament propelling him up to the world’s number one, while he will now become the favourite to win the next upcoming tournament.

Net worth

Four tournament victories this year and a number one world ranking will have had a big impact on how much Scheffler is worth, while he has also made a fair amount of career earnings with those victories. The 25-year-old's net worth is estimated to be around $4m (£3m), but that could well be more after his PGA Masters Tournament win on Sunday.

After finishing tied fourth at the 2020 PGA Championship, Scheffler netted $528,000 (£404,000) in prize money, while his four victories this year have earned him an impressive $8.6m (£6.6m) this year, with his total earnings in 2022 accumulating to $10m (£7.6m). The current record for PGA Tour earnings without bonuses is a little over $12m (£9m), with the American well on his way to smashing that after just four months this year.

Scheffler doesn’t have a great deal of sponsors to his name but he signed with TaylorMade in March, securing a multi-year deal with the brand. He also has a Titleist ball sponsorship and uses Vokey wedges and a Scotty Cameron putter, along with an apparel partnership with Nike. He's also sponsored by Veritex Community Bank.
