Who is Samuel Boateng? Brother of Love Island's Mike Boateng and ex-Apprentice star

Love Island’s Mike Boeteng has become a very popular contestant in the very first winter edition – but this isn’t his family's first brush with fame.

The Islander – who has set his sights on Leanne Amaning – is related to a former Apprentice star.

24-year-old police officer Mike’s older brother Samuel – who has since changed his surname and now goes by Samuel Brooksworth - competed in the 2016 series of The Apprentice, and made it through to the seventh week of the BBC show.

Samuel - who manages Mike's social media accounts with his twin Andrew - failed to impress Lord Alan Sugar in a task which involved selling boating and leisure products to visitors at the Poole Harbour Boat Show and was eventually fired not being involved enough.

What has Samuel said about The Apprentice?

The 31-year-old appeared on the BBC show, saying: “My creativity, my passion, my charm, and my likeability all roll into one, creating one perfect guy.”

He said he has excellent public speaking abilities and admitted he will be “on the charm offensive” on the showsamuel.

In 2019, he told The Guardian that “a lack of recognised black businessmen was one of the reasons” he applied to be on the Apprentice.

He said: “There are black British males doing exceptionally well in business in the UK.

“However there is a clear need to tackle the institutional discrimination across the country that is holding many others back. For black men to reach the top of more organisations, they must first be seen and treated as equals.”

What does Samuel do now?

The TV personality is now an account director at the Guardian and the founder of Build And Masters, a social enterprise.

His Instagram bio reads: “Consultant specialising in Entrepreneurship, Sales, Leadership and Management.”

Love Island returns to ITV2 tonight at 9pm.
