Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have transformed the fortunes of National League team Wrexham over the last two years.
The North American actors-turned-owners have made one of the world's oldest professional football clubs and name known around the globe due to the presence and the Welcome to Wrexham documentary series that has welcomed the world into the Welsh city where the club resides. Much is known about Reynolds as the more high-profile and public facing of the pair.
But the question is: who exactly is McElhenney? We profile the Philadelphia-native below, charting his acting career and uncovering his other business interests.

What is McElhenney most known for?
It is the 45-year-old's career on the small screen that, aside from coming to British attention as Wrexham co-owner, he is best known for. McElhenney co-created the comedy series, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and continues to executive produce and contribute to writing the show almost two decades later, as well as portraying the character Mac McDonald, one of five core characters in The Gang.
More recently, McElenney co-created another comedy show Mythic Quest, in which he plays Ian Grimm. Again, alongside acting and creating, he also assumes the role of writer, director and executive producer.
Does he have any other business interests?
As well as co-owning Wrexham, McElhenney co-founded the entertainment-tech company Adim that launched last summer, which is a Web3 company that he now co-chairs. The actor fronts the brand, which is also co-owned by Chase Rosenblatt, Melissa Kaspers, Spencer Marell, and Richard Rosenblatt.
McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson, who are married, also purchased a Philadelphia bar back in 2009, which they renamed Mac's Tavern, in a nod to Always Sunny. In the show, which Olson also stars in, the pair run a bar in Pennsylvania’s largest city.
