The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will battle it out tonight in Super Bowl LIX, but that won’t be the only anticipated event of the evening.
Rap superstar Kendrick Lamar will headline the Super Bowl 59 halftime show, presented by Apple Music. Grammy-winning R&B singer and songwriter SZA, who is touring with Lamar this year, was announced as a special guest.
This won’t be the first time Lamar is appearing on the Super Bowl stage. He was a special guest at the Super Bowl 56 halftime show in Los Angeles, with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak.
Lamar is regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all-time, and he has an impressive resume. He has won 17 Grammy Awards (third most by a rapper in history), four American Music Awards, 37 BET Hip Hop Awards, 11 MTV Video Music Awards, six Billboard Music Awards and was awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Music.
Previous Super Bowl halftime shows featured Usher (2024), Rihanna (2023), Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent (2022) and The Weeknd (2021).
