Who is Patrick Mahomes' wife Brittany - soccer career and trolling rival players

Patrick Mahones is the star of the show on the NFL field last weekend - but his wife's hilarious comments have also been grabbing headlines.

The Kansas City Chiefs superstar, who played in his fifth straight AFC championship game, will play in his third Super Bowl when his side take on the Philadelphia Eagles.

And remarkably he's done it all before the age of 28, putting him on course to become the greatest quarterback in NFL history.

You'd think all of the attention would be on Mahomes, but wife Brittany Matthews is also in the spotlight thanks to her hilariously brutal remarks to the opposition.

Mahomes and Matthews, both originally from Texas, started dating after they met at high school in Whitehouse.

After graduating high school Mahomes went to Texas Tech to play college football and baseball, while Matthews played soccer at the University of Texas, 440 miles away.

The pair had a long-distance relationship for a while, with Matthews even playing professional soccer for a year in Iceland for a team called UMF Afturelding/Fram,

But they relocated to Kansas City to be together in 2017 and have not been apart ever since.

Brittany is now a fitness trainer, launching an online training program in 2019, and is an advocate for women in sports and a leader in the Kansas City community.

She is also co-owner of the Kansas City Current, a women's professional soccer team.

In September 2020, on the day he received his Super Bowl Championship ring, Patrick proposed to Brittany in a suite in Arrowhead Stadium.

They got married in March last year, having had a daughter in September 2020, and welcomed a son in November.

Mahomes has his wife to thank for always looking sharp when making his way to games.

Before the Bengals game, Brittany posted a picture of the pair smiling before they arrived at the Arrowhead Stadium.

"If you're wondering, yes I dress him every game day, and he is always icey [sic] yes," she wrote in the caption, in addition to drooling and smiley face emojis.

Brittany is often been spotted at Chiefs games - and at one point poured champagne over fans at Arrowhead Stadium.

She took time away from social media as a result of having clashes with referees, but has returned in time for the biggest game of the season.

Her most hilarious moment came when she hit back at the Cincinnati Mayor after he took to social media to ridicule her husband ahead of the AFC Championship Game.

Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval released a video calling on Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow to take a paternity test to figure out whether or not he is Mahomes' father.

Brittany didn't find the joke too funny and mocked the mayor in a brutal response, tweeting: "WEAK. & embarrassing."

Mayor Pureval later tweeted an apology to the city of Cincinnati for his joke, writing: "Bengals nation, Lol. I hear you. My competitive juices and love for cincy [sic] got the best of me. My bad. Staying hungry and humble. See you Sunday. Who Dey baby!"

It was Brittany who got the last laugh as the Chiefs beat the Bengals 23-20 to make it to the Super Bowl.

Brittany looked to once again ridicule the Bengals after all the trash talk in the build-up to the match - taking aim at Eli Apple.

After the Bengals' win over Buffalo in the Divisional Round the previous week, Cincinnati cornerback Apple tweeted, "Cancun on 3" to Bills receiver Stefon Diggs.

Taking to Instagram after the Chiefs' win, Brittany shared a video zooming in on a Kansas City fan holding up a sign that read, "Cancun on 3 @EliApple".

She also tweeted "Cancun on 3" with a peace emoji and tagged Apple to ensure he got a taste of his own medicine

Brittany went on to celebrate the Chief's win with one-year-old daughter Sterling, whom she shares with Mahomes, and his father, Pat Mahomes.

"Your daddy just won the game," Matthews could be seen telling a smiling Sterling.

Elsewhere, former MLB pitcher Pat appeared on her Instagram Story struggling to light a cigar amid the celebrations.

"Light that s***, baby, light it," Matthews could be heard screaming in the video, which has since gone viral on the internet.

Later on, Brittany and Mahomes were snapped riding on a party bus before doing shots at an after party.

Will they be as happy when the Chiefs take on the Eagles on February 12?
