When does Celebrity MasterChef 2022 start? The full line-up and release date revealed

Celebrity MasterChef 2022 is returning to the BBC this summer. Now the full star-studded line-up has been revealed – and it’s a real cracker.

This year fans can look forward to seeing famous choirmaster Gareth Malone OBE, Strictly star Katya Jones, RuPaul’s Drag Race finalist Kitty Scott-Clause and All Saints’ Mel Blatt facing the heat in the kitchen.

GB News’ Kirsty Gallacher, actor Adam Pearson, Love Island’s Faye Winter and TV and radio presenter Lisa Snowden will also be joining the line-up.

As if that wasn’t enough, none other than Paul Chuckle will be gracing our screens once more. For fans of children’s TV comedy stalwarts the Chuckle Brothers, this is almost to-me, to-you, too-good to be true. His brother and lifelong theatrical partner Barry died in 2018.

Nancy Dell’Olio, the lawyer and TV personality is also set to join the motley crew, alongside Peckham’s Finest star Queen MoJo, McFly’s Danny Jones, comedian Kae Kurd, and former professional boxer Chris Eubank.

EastEnders and Hollyoaks’ Richard Blackwood, Coronation Street’s Ryan Thomas, The Wire’s Clarke Peters and Call the Midwife’s Cliff Parisi will also be cooking-off, and finally, former professional footballer Jimmy Bullard and Birds of a Feather actor Lesley Joseph complete the line-up.

The icing on the cake is the fact that Gregg Wallace and John Torode are reprising their roles as judges, and so the scene is set for another exciting season.

It’s always a rambunctious affair: the celebrities often don’t have, shall we say, the same skillset as the contestants in the original series – at least in the early rounds – making for some hilarious (for which read disastrous) viewing.

Broadcast over six weeks, with a four-week heat round, this year promises the return of favourite challenges, such as under the cloche, and there are set to be some large-scale feats too.

Previous winners include presenter Angellica Bell, who won in 2017, Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt, who won in 2015, and Four Weddings and a Funeral’s Sophie Thompson, who won in 2014. Parasport athlete Kadeena Cox, MBE won last year.

MasterChef series editor Katie Attwood said: “Celebrity MasterChef is a firm favourite in the television must-see calendar and this series is as funny, engaging and nail-biting as ever. John and Gregg are in for a treat, as are our viewers.”

Sarah Clay, the commissioning editor for the BBC, said: “This line-up will absolutely cement Celebrity MasterChef as one of the nation’s most loved cookery programmes, with a lot of laughter alongside fierce competition guaranteed.

“The level of cooking is fantastic this year and you can really see how much it means to them all.”

When does Celebrity Masterchef 2022 start?

Celebrity Masterchef, produced by Shine TV, will return to BBC One on August 10, 2022. It will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Last year’s series ran for five weeks across 18 episodes, but the latest season will reportedly last for six weeks. It is thought that contestants will compete in a four-week heat round before a semi-finals week and a finals week.
