Miss USA 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel grabbed the coveted title of Miss Universe 2022 at the 71st Miss Universe pageant held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. And, here's everything about Gabriel,who beat contestants from over 84 countries to win the prestigious Miss Universe crown.
Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel stunned everyone with her impressive answer during the final round of the Miss Universe pageant. She was asked, “If you win Miss Universe, how will you work to demonstrate this is an empowering and progressive organization?" She replied, Well, I would use it to be a transformational leader. As a very passioante designer, (having) been sewing for 13 years, I use fashion as a force for good. In my industry, I'm cutting down on pollution through recycled materials when I make my clothing. I teach sewing classes to women that have survuved from human trafficking and domestic violence. And I say that because it is so important to invest in others, invest in out community, and use your unique talent to make a difference. We all have something special, and when we plant those seeds (in) other people in our life, we transform them, and we use that as a vehicle for change."
R'Bonney is a fashion designer, model, and sewing instructor with a zest for life and she hails from Houston, Texas. Her mother is American and father Filipino. While in high school, she instantly fell in love with constructing designs with fabrics and textiles. At the University of North Texas, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design with a Minor in Fibers in 2018. She is presently, the CEO of her own sustainable clothing line, R’Bonney Nola, which has everything from t-shirts to denim to dresses.
At the costume round, Gabriel stunned everyone in a NASA-inspired moon costume which weighed an estimated 33 pounds (15 kg). According to Space.com, Gabriel's costume was an homage to NASA's Apollo 11 lunar landing and current Artemis program, included an actual scale-sized moon held up over her head by an intricate frame surrounded by gleaming silver stars and an outfit bedecked by red, white and blue lights. She carried an American flag to complete the look.
