Well, the cat’s out of the bag — British TikToker Max Balegde has been revealed as a contestant who’ll be roughing it in the South African I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.
The TikTok influencer, who has a whopping 3.6M followers on the app, shared in an interview with Pedestrian TV’s own Laura Masia that being on the show is an “absolute dream” for him.
“I’m just so excited — I really am,” Balegde said.
“I know for a fact that ‘lovely Linda’, who sits at home and has her three kids that are all grown up now…she’s not going to have the slightest clue who Max Balegde from the UK is.
“And I am perfectly at peace with that.
“I’m very excited that the vast majority of people watching the show will not have a clue who I am”.
So, Who Is Max Balegde?
Balegde started his career on the video-sharing platform, but has since made career moves as a podcaster, presenter and A-list celebrity interviewer.
In fact, he’s chatted to stars such as Millie Bobby Brown, Paul Mescal, Zendaya, and Amy Poehler, among others.
The British TikTokker will be staying in the South African jungle alongside familiar Aussie icons like Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes, Matthew ‘Matty J’ Johnson, Reggie Bird and Sam Thaiday.
The show will also see a return of hosts Robert Irwin and Julia Morris.
Balegde has previously expressed his desire to be in the British version of the iconic show, way back in a TikTok made in 2021.
“If you’re listening, here’s the things that I’ll bring to the show”, he said.
“Firstly, I’d probably be the non celebrity that no one even knows who they are and you wouldn’t have to pay me that much.
“Secondly, I’d do absolutely everything. I’d be shit at everything no doubt.
“Thirdly, I’ve been trying to lose weight for ages and nothing’s working, so rice and beans for a month, are you trying to shag me? Go on then.”
Thankfully, it looks like Balegde’s wish has come true — albeit four years later and in our Aussie version, but still!
